Fatwood is an all natural firestarter that starts with a match and is popular for kindling in the fireplace. A few sticks burn hot and long enough to 'catch' reasonably dry and split firewood! It's a natural by-product of the Longleaf Pine which grows primarily along the Southeastern Coastal Plain of the United States. The tree concentrates resin which is quickly combustible. It also provides a pleasant scent as a year round air freshener. Fatwood is available in bags or boxes. Bags usually are available in 3lb, and 8lb sizes, but many people buy 10lb and 25lb boxes.
